The St. Peterburg Tarot Deck
- Illustrated by Russian artist Yury Shakov (July 15, 1937 - March 10, 1989)
- Images are Palekh miniature paintings. Pakekh is a form of folk laquer art done with tempera pains and varnish. Shakov specialized in this medium. The artwork on the Russian Tarot of St. Petersbury was his final commissioned work before he died. It's believe he died before finishing the deck and another artist picked up where Shakov left off.
- In order to paint these minatures the painter had to wear an arm brace to keep the hand steady, and work with a magnifying glass, and at times, uses a paintbrush made of a single hair.
